”This book and the enclosed drum charts serve to help guide you through learning and mastering these six songs and their contrasting styles and feels. I've provided as much detail as I feel is necessary to navigate each song, being conscious not to overload the pages with note-for-note transcriptions of everything. Instead, I've outlined just the core info, rhythms, patterns, and grooves etc in detail, as well as note-for-note transcriptions of the drum solos, should you wish to learn those too. Beyond that, the charts are there to help guide you through the arrangements with any important band hits, stops, dynamics etc. I encourage you to explore your own ways of interpreting and playing my songs and experiment with different grooves and ways of approaching the solos etc.

I've intentionally mixed the metronome volumes in the backing tracks to be quieter than you might expect, to encourage you to focus more on listening to and locking in with the rhythm section, and to be less reliant on the click, which will hopefully help things feel more "live" and organic. The studio recordings were all tracked live with the band in the room together, so I want you to feel as much a part of that as possible.”
